So, little update for you all, was driving to work a week or 2 ago and car started to overheat, took me nearly 2 hours rather than the normal 30 as kept having to pull over and let car cool down.
Anyway turned out that the metal radiator cap had disintegrated and therefore meant there was no pressure in the cooling system to get the water around the engine.
the car has been in the garage, head gasket set been done, head skimmed, all necessary parts have been replaced and decat manifold put on.
I then get a call from the garage saying that seen as I removed 2 of the cats the last one was getting rather toasty to a point it was red hot so now the insides of that are being removed.
oh and getting an excedy clutch put in too.
so yeah that's my update, hopefully car will be back today.

Yeah, cant believe something as small as the rad cap can cause so much damage, going to be checking that often lol.
Not at the moment, all the work and parts so far have cost a load plus it would mean waiting for the flywheel too so will be probably upgrading at later date.
missed out on a lightened solid flywheel on ebay but think that went for the best part of 500 quid.

Would having a skimmed head improve hp at all?
as it is increasing the compression.

I no the feeling when my rad went I was very lucky it didn't cause any damage and got an Alu 1 for a great price.

If the fly wheel was a sqt solid 1 he has them all the time and that's what I have now and I also think jimbob has the same, it was £469 plus delivery

Oh right ok, will definitely look in to that.
Just got the car back, slight problem, as it now has decat manifold, it only runs on 3 cylinders when pulling away and on idle, it also has the em light on and the trc light on, will that all stop after a while?
