or you can use an allen key of what ever size, does not have to be a bolt, might need to cut the longer leg off tho

Well I did this simple mod on my boot lid today.

I used 2 5mm S/S hex head screws. I cut the heads off and as I didn't fancy the metal to metal contact decided to wrap them in insulating tape........

I used a small pair of stilsons to prise the springs out.....

Finished job left...

and right.....

and it now pops up about half way....

I could put bigger screws in to make it open all the way but I'm happy with this. Plus I think if I used bigger screws there's a chance that the spring could come out of the slot.

Yer it is, but I don't know why we are having to do this. On my first IS200 the boot lid always pop open all the way. I don't know whether Lexus changed it on the newer ones, some sort of stupid safety issue I expect.

couldnt say mate but on the last 2 IS200's I've had they only ever popped about half way but when it was cold the one would pop only afew cm

Yer that's another problem I think they do tend to stick to the seal. Some people have suggested dusting the seal with talcum powder.
