BMW out of F1......
BMW out of F1......
BMW have announced today they're leaving F1 at the end of the season - if you ask me I'm a little disappointed that they're giving up so easily.
They had a good shot at winning the championship last year if they hadn't have given up, and now one bad season and they're out.
Toyota have been rubbish for years, and they've stuck it out, BMW with all their racing pedigree can't even make it past a few seasons.
Wow, did not expect that one ! hock:
Having said that though, they had high hopes for this season but they've been absolutely awful.
I guess the simple fact of the matter was probably that their expenditure was far outweighing any benefits they were getting from F1.
Wonder who will buy the remains of the team ?
I'm not sure but if I was to guess I'd say this was more to do with poor performance than money..........
But they are working towards bringing the costs down, they just didn't agree to the "let's dramatically cut costs in one season" that the FIA was up for.
There are more teams coming in next season, though that was meant to add to the grid, not replace existing teams. But in the current economic climate it must be pretty tough.
I think there's 2 confirmed new teams (USF1 and Manor) but there might be a few more if people start leaving.
I'm sure someone will take over the BMW team though, wouldn't be surprised if Peter Sauber took it back himself!
