You can buy brake servicing kits from Toyota too. That one just has the rubber bits to replace on your calipers. So it might help, but if you've got a problem with your calipers it depends on exactly what the problem is - e.g. if the pistons are in a bad way then it's not going to help.

You can also find new/refurbished calipers on eBay, but similarly you need to check exactly what's included - again the pistons may often be not included.

I'm not trying to say it's always the pistons that are the problem, just that it depends on what you need to fix/replace.

What problem have you got ?

I agree with stevie here. Having done a few caliper refurbs, i can say its certainly not worth the extra cost of getting the seal kits from lexus/toyota (they are extortionate)

The main problem with these types of calipers is they collect a small amount of water in between the piston and the caliper body. This will cause the pistons to go rusty and seize in place. When this happens it is best to replace the pistons with new ones. They are about £16 each.

I have experienced refurbing my own calipers, which lasted 4 months before seizing again because i didnt replace the pistons.

It is quite an involved job and can be fiddly getting the seals back in place. I would reccomend replacing the caliper with either a refurbed item or new, if it has seized.

Uneven wearing would suggest sticky pistons or sliders. Changing the calipers can be tricky. if someone is making up adaptro brackets its straight forward, but if you have to sort it out yourself it can be a pain

That does sound like the caliper is sticking, which is a fairly common problem.

Quote: was thinking of going to indi Garage to sort it out

Be aware of getting them to do the job fully, e.g. replacing the pistons if necessary as Hurricane has said. Otherwise it might fix it for a bit but the problem then soon comes back again. See what they'll quote you.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I need help guys! I've just put my car back on the road after a month and I think the right hand caliper is seized. I was driving and the car started vibrating really badly as though the wheels were off balance or loose but after checking the wheels I noticed the front right to be warm. Anyway, its getting quite hot and I sprayed a bit of water on it to see just how hot and it burnt away straight away from the brakes. The front left is ok so guess I need to get the right caliper repaired or replaced? I need advice asap please as the car is due its mot tomorrow and I need the car on the road. Do I need a complete recon with piston or just the seals/sliders etc? I dont know how to do it myself so would have to get my mechanic to do it.

Where should I get the kit from as well if needed? If possible then I dont want to go for any other make other than blueprint as I trust their stuff for copy parts.....

Thanks in advance guys...
