Right as the snows coming and my back tyres are at just below 2mm it time for a change.
Whats do people recommend? obviously theres a fair bit of grunt going through the back so after something with decent grip.

winter tyres i say conti cvc5. i run them, 225/40/18 and the grip from them is super glue on the road with ice and snow. here is a pic of my winter wheels with them on and my new brakedisks.

conti viking contact 5. with all the tyres i have had on over the winters these are by far the best ever. even under braking they do not slide or lose traction.
I am trying Goodyear Eskimo 225/45/17 during this winter on the standard lexus wheels, so far so good today
During the summer I have had both Toyo Proxes T1r and Falken 452, both are good tyres to be fair 225/40/18 i would aire to the Toyo's for a bit stickier rubber..

I'm not particularly after a winter tyre, its just with low tread left on the ones on the car dont seen the most sensible idea.
After something thats grippy and reliable
