Think i'll just have to do a pic of it, will make it easier than trying to explain :lol::lol:
The only thing is with the plastic, is that it does wear away after a bit of time so has to be replaced? another thought would be to use a piece of reinforced hose pipe, might last a bit longer? :laugh:

Another way to put a bit of a spacer in the gap would be to use a wide cable tie? wrap it round the spring and slide it into place ( trim off the excess 1st,) and put the clip part in the gap? so you have the cable tie block in the boot hinge?
