Good luck stav. I've tried flocking before and it turned out hugely unsuccessful. I ended up with what looked like a mouldy dashboard.

Little update.

Got a few more bits ordered up and they arrived this week. Big Grin
Firstly i bought a new tax disc holder, did remove my outlaw one from the lexus but the glue had gone dodgy and it was all sticky so didn't use it again, then i saw this and just had to have it.......

Suits the car really as it doesn't like potholes very much!

Then today these arrived......

Stainless steel laser cut rear tow eye and stainless polished door surrounds.

door handles before.....

and after.......

got a few more parts i want sorting on the interior then will be concentrating on cleaning the engine/exterior.

Also picked up my flocked pieces on wednesday, look so good. Really goes well with the car and the dash really looks good now. Ron did such a good job with them and im over the moon with the results.

Last weekend i had the MOT as well, what a mission that was! Had it booked in with a mate for 8:30am on saturday. Dropped it off on time and left it with him, 30 minutes later i get a phone call.........' mate, i can't mot your car as i cant actually get it on the ramps, its too low, will smash the front bumper in if i try'.
So i then go and get the car and take it home, i thought sod it i will just call mazda directly. They said they have low fitted ramps so take it there. They tried it on their ramps and hay presto its all good, however it won't go on the rollers to check the brakes but they can do a road test so will be fine. Leave the car there and come back a hour and a half later.....' your MOT is all done, however it has failed' . Turns out the headlights where never adjusted properly so they needed doing. however by this time the dealer is clossed! Monday after work picked it up and its now all done and sorted.

Its also developed a small oil leak that needs looking at, nothing too bad but need to get on it soon before it gets worse. Im still loving it though, going to have a few niggles with a 22 year old car. Big Grin

Will be getting back on with the dissmantling of the lexus tomorrow and then im off to Janspeed on sunday with a local jap club in hampshire for a rolling road meet Big Grin Will be nice to see how many ponies i have lost over 22 years!

Very nice mate, seen your thread over on HJC too.

Great find with the flocking, I'm going to have to have a look into that when I get my MK1 Aristo back, especially seeing as it's only just down the road and reasonably priced too!

ormi mate looking good.....did you have the towing eye made?i've always fancyd oe for the lex..

Towing eye was bought from a company that make them specifically for the mx5. I actually bought a honda civic tow eye for the buggy a year or so ago but its a very good fitment for the lexus as well. From a company called Tegiwa, come in lots of colours too.

Well yesterday i took the MX5 along to a Rolling Road day with Hampshire Jap Cars. Was a great day out, hosted at Janspeed and the MD even gave us a tour of the factory and machine shop. Some very interesting stuff going on there!

Anyway, i thought i would get the MX5 on the rollers and see what power its making after 22 years of age. Wasn't expecting any thing much to be honest, i would be happy with it being slightly below standard. Now the book figures for my engine are 115bhp at the fly. So i reckon about 90-92 bhp at the wheels??? Someone may know more accurate figure? She made a impressive 99bhp at the wheels with a very smooth graph. Was really happy with that :biggrin:

More surprisingly though is that it was 110.3db and made a nice pop and even spat some flames out the back Confusedhock: I was really shocked to say the least but pretty happy. Then at the end of the day they where handing out awards for different catergories and i won 'The Flamer' award  There where better flames from other cars however as they had antilag, huge spec they gave the award to me as i guess they didn't expect the little mazda to flame!

me collecting my award..........

I spent the day getting slatted by one of the other members (friendly banter) as he also has a mx5. However his is the more powerfull bbr turbo version (150bhp at the fly standard). He kept ripping into me all day saying mine was rubbish and they even grouped us together on the dyno. Mine made 99bhp and his made a staggering.................104bhp, almost died laughing! :Fish: He wasn't happy at that point, and i made sure i rubbed it in his face as much as possible! His dyno graph was all over the place and i think he has some serious problems. Dyno graph was crazy, heres the 2 together....

I will get the dyno vid off my mate for my car and upload it asap Big Grin

lol, that is all over the shop! Turbo cars tend to have rougher dyno output (especially when modified from stock but still running stock management) but that's just ridiculous.
