After a discussion with Jay and Moley regarding getting the light change done on the heater control units, I noticed something different on the left dial of the units I was looking at...

Moley's heater unit is like this one, with only a symbol for heated rear window, where mine is like this one, with 2 symbols (the extra one referring to the heated wing mirrors).

The question is:

Does the unit with a single symbol run the heated wing mirrors as well, or was this something that was added to later models (Mine is 2002, Moley's is 2000)?

Anyone know for sure?

Exactly as above, on early cars the heated mirrors were on all the time - sounds pretty ridiculous but someone at Toyota thought that was a good idea Smile

Moley So what happens if you swap the control panels over ?

Good question, Moley... Wonder if changing the 'older' unit for a 'newer' unit would mean the mirrors came on only with the button?

Either way you're unlikely to have a problem Moley as you said your unit has the single symbol, and so does the one you were sending Jay. Like for like shouldn't be any problem...

Marsdendean I'm guessing if you fitted an early one to a later one there wouldn't be enough wires, and the other way about some wires left over ?

The unit just has a couple plugs on the back, so maybe something just wouldn't work, or the pinouts might be different...
