Bodywork warranty
Bodywork warranty
Is the warranty 12 years on bodywork? Just noticed I have some corrosion on my left rear inner wheelarch - interestingly it's the wing that was replaced after an accident in 05 (other side looks fine).
Going to show it to my dealer, but if they don't agree to do it under warranty what options do I have? Is it something that will need to go into the bodyshop?

Marsdendean Do you not have a warranty with the bodyshop? I was given a lifetime limited warranty. My bonnet was going rusty and turned out it needed a new one, so they had to do it!
its 12 years but won't do it if its not been to a lexus approved one, since the paint wont be lexus approved - thats what i was told

Tango You may be lucky with Lexus, but the extended corrosion warranty is usually only applicable if the panel is perforated i.e. surface corrosion isn't covered.

parthiban Ahh in that case perhaps I won't get anything as it is just on the surface. Isn't that a bit silly though, as surely it's cheaper and easier to sort surface rust - and surface rust will eventually go all the way through potentially?

Cool, I'll take it in next week and fingers crossed they'll sort it out
Finally got around to taking the car in this morning and unfortunately I'm not sure if this will be covered - they're not sure so going to check with Lexus but they said that only the original bodywork is covered for 12 years, replacement panels are just whatever the bodyshop gives you (which in this case is 3 years).
I was always under the impression that if the work was Lexus approved the original warranty still stands - does anyone know whether that's true or not?
