Initially I decided
The orange was nice but I wanted purple
The Do-Luck front end had to stay because I really like that which mean the kit at the back had to stay in some form or it would look wrong. I have never liked the spats but they do suit the rest and the bodyshop said they only looked as bad as they did because they were no longer really flush to the car. The side skirts were ok but I'd prefer something straighter and less patterned.
When I first bought the car, I was contemplating taking the kit back to stock or smoothing it all out properly if it stayed (Like Mikes yellow supra, only I hadn't seen his at the time) so this crossed my mind again.
Having spent so much time thinking about the outside, I thought it's a good opportunity to address under the bonnet too. Although my ultimate aims far outweigh my budget for all in one go, there were steps I could definitely take to start the process that are quite sensible to do while the car underwent a full repsray and had the engine out.
Pumpkin was modified and BPU'd about five years ago and has since done 100,000 of her 175,000 miles total, most of that motorway driving.. resulting in her appearance in The Inbetweeners. 2JZ's will go on forever, with a little care and attention and Pumpkin pulled like a train, didn't burn oil and sounded great. The turbos we showing a few signs of the wear and tear and it seemed practical to do a first stage overhaul at this point.
She is already kicking out over 400BHP and with a bit of tender loving care and some new parts obviously this would probably increase a little. Once you start thinking in BHP it is incredibly addictive and watching Jamie P's progression over the years fails to discourage the ever hopeful but I gave myself a reality check. My gearbox will only cope with 450bhp and my engine is approaching 200,000 miles - pushing this would be a stupid move at this point as I am not in a position to be thinking new engine, gearbox and all the other upgrades needed. Also and highly relevent, I live in roundabout city - I am constantly having to hold her back and stopping the second turbo kick in as there just isn't enough room between the roundabouts to stop an excitable supra ! 20-05-2019, 07:28 AM #40[COLOR="DarkOrchid"]So.. to my plan ... well initially the plan was that horrible green bugeye air filter had to go and maybe a few shiny things to give me something else to polish ( cos three cars just doesn't keep Dino busy enough) .. I didn't like the orange much when I first got her but as I am sure you won't have noticed much, I do have a bit of a penchant for purple. I had promised myself as a kid when I got THE car for me I would have it purple so I gave myself a year of driving Pumpkin to see if she was the one. She's definitely a lovely car to drive but over time the orange had started to grow on me, there are only two other orange cars I've seen in MK too so we had out own little club. I spent a lot of time perusing the supra owners clubs pictures to see what other people had done and what I liked and had some chats with friends of mine who run a bodyshop.
