Gutted for you mate. Our dog would have barked until you gave him a toy or a cuddle........... Useless.

totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

Feel for you mate. From experience I can tell you that if they want in, they will get in regardless of what you put in their way. Have you called local pawnbrokers etc they prob will want to off the bounty quite quick. As you and others have said, At least it didn't get physical. I had my babies with me when we returned just after they had left. Took a while but we bounced back. They caught them eventually and they are currently enjoying her majesty's leisure facilities. They all screw up in the end. Karma

Hey P, sorry to hear about this, so long as you and your mum are not hurt. If your into DIY, I could provide you with advice and probably a hand with installing your own alarm/cameras.

Look into getting yourself some Y-Cam's mate.

I've got 3 dotted around my house (entrances and garage). They are wireless IP cameras that you can login to from anywhere (even on an iphone) and can set up as security devices to start recording when they detect motion between preset times of the day/night.

I can 'arm' mine using my Iphone and they record any data to an off-site server. Here's an image that it captured in the middle of the night:
