Chri5 Well said purp Wink
Like it's been said somewhere before sadly it's in our nature to destroy ourselves.

That was a line in Terminator 2.

Cheers John Wink
I knew I'd heard it somewhere Smile

Although I believe her death will be drug related. Everybody slates her.
But look at Michael Jackson. He died of a drug overdose and because his addiction was less known about for some reason ppl accepted it more.

When talking of who is to blame, the point Lexusboy made in the initial post, you can blame any number of people/factors. But then drug addicts always seem to have an excuse, don't they? They tried to make her go to rehab, but she said no, several times. That is not intended as a joke, and is in fact the truth. People tried to help her with her drug problems, over and over again, but you cannot help someone who does not want to help themselves. (I have more personal experience with this than I care to!)

It is always tragic when anyone dies from anything other than natural causes, but, in my humble opinion, the majority of the blame lies with her, as she is ultimately responsible for her own decisions and actions, as we all are.

I don't mean to be harsh in speaking ill of the dead, but death often changes public perception of people. Jade Goody, for example, was a gormless, ignorant, loud mouth, racist when she was alive, yet the day she died she became a national treasure, "Our Princess"! Amy Winehouse had incredible talent, but wasted her life getting wasted, only now she has gone she seems to be getting a lot of sympathy for it.

Marsdendean I just dont see the point in people who take drugs . . . ..

Is that you don't see the point in taking them? As in why people would anyone want to?

Or you don't see the point in the people who take them? Implying they are worthless and can never serve any valid function in society? (As you wrote it!) If so, that is a little harsh, as many drug addicts do successfully get help and lead normal, fulfilling lives, with jobs and families etc.

EDIT: I am not referencing myself here! But those I know.

I can see why people take the drugs like Coke, Heroin etc. Unfortunately once you start with it you won't want to stop no matter what people say to you because you know best and your head just doesn't work in the right way any more- its addiction of the 1st order. It only takes a little bit and your on the very slippery slope.

It is very easy for people to say that they can't see why people take drugs and get hooked and to write people off because they have become addicted.

Alcohol is a drug, smoking (tobacco) is a drug. We all get addicted to a certain extent. It's just that these so called drugs (the illegal ones) are far more addictive. I've never taken strong (illigal) dugs but I did used to smoke and I like a drink.

I gave up smoking many years ago but not without some help and like smoking and drinking people need help to give up drugs; even more help because of it's more addictive nature.

We can all say oh I only drink to be social. I like a few beers because it relaxes me. But the truth is we are all addicts. The only difference is that people like Amy, celebrities and stars is that the drinking and the smoking doesn't work after while and they have the money, the life style and the contacts to move on to something stronger.

As some of you know I have two daughters, one 20 and one 25, I thank god that they haven't got into drugs and I haven't had to watch either of them waste their lives away like so many of our young people do.

My thoughts at this time are with her parents.

As a reformed user of certain drugs (never touched heroin or crack) I can see the glamorous (if you can call it that) side of things. However I've seen the dark side also.
I've lost friends, friends been put away, friends who've lost everything and I mean everything but yet they still (as I did) carry on.
It's not until your ready in your mindsight that you can quit.
I've personally (apart from maybe a few draws of a joint) haven't touched anything barring cigarettes and alcohol for the best part of 10-11 years.
So why did I get involved???
It was the social culture that I was Involved in. Literally partying, clubbing and in the early years raving all weekend and most of the week.
Thankfully I came thro ok. But I left my friends, and the social side of things behind so I had little temptation.

I can imagine for ppl like Amy winehouse, the beatles, rolling stones, michael jackson, oasis brothers and many other great stars that when you live the lifestyle and literally have everything pushed under your nose then quitting isn't really an option as many addicts are usually very vulnerable.
All that said tho if the word NO was used in the 1st place then this whole situation wouldn't of started in the 1st place. But hindsights a wonderful thing.

I can't say I know a single person within my last industry that hadn't touched class 1 drugs. Sad but true.
