ad:Looking good. I am soon selling my Land Rover, as can't afford to keep it for how little it is used. (Insuring a V8 as my 3rd car, as a young man living in a city centre is very painful, I can assure you!)
So I am looking at roof bars for bikes as I don't like the boot mount ones either. I will also loose my towing ability when the Landy goes, and am considering a tow bar for the Lex. Some tow bar mount bike racks are ok actually (a Thule one I have seen), but I could even get a small trailer if I had the towbar.
I have a Scott Zero G and the misses has a Giant XTC 980, both full sus, with a spattering of urgraded parts, and set up for extreme cross county/mild down hill. Original build cost would have run up to around £5k for the both (at RRPs), but buying 2nd hand off ebay with parts missing/broken ("spares or repairs") and replacing/upgrading as required over the last few months. We have spent around £500 in total for the pair and they are ready to ride (turns out they depreciate like cars) Ebay=Winning!

ad:They sure do, Mine in the shops up here was £375, Went on ebay and got it for £100 (Its a 2010 gt outpost) then I upgraded all the brakes to hydraulic, The front forks to a set that can lock out, bigger disks (From 160mm to 180mm wavey disks) new tyres, bars and gear shifters. Then all the bits off mine i got a Scott yz3 that was spares or repairs and put all my old bits onto that and made another half decent bike.
Hoping to give the racks a good ride out at the weekend, May go over to north wales or delamere forest as its close to me.
