Rear strut brace

the strut bit is pretty simple to fit, but its got the triangular piece that goes to the floor of the boot with a little bracket.
has anyone else got one of these? and if so how did you install it?
ie through the bodywork or just on top?

could it be the drain plug hole? i know theres the one in the wheel well, is there another one up top?

will have a go at installing this week and see that it lines up with, ideally want it so its removeable and no sticking up bolts or anything.
