Just caught up the last few pages, this thread moves fast! All looking very good Sam. There will always be these teething problems, but you seem to have worked around them all well so far. Whenever planning a build like this, it is always a case of working out a reasonable budget and time frame...... doubling them both...... then adding a bit more!

This "Mark" and "Leon" sound like absolute saints! Where on Earth did you find them!?!?

So she goes back into JPS again to try and fix the intermittent indicator and fit a few more parts that had now arrived .. they find a few dodgy wires, mainly behind my steering wheel (yes I freaked, having had one car catch fire around me many moons ago, this makes me nervous), they replace them and I get my car back to carry on running in.. the indicators are fine for days until I do another long run and then when warm they go all odd again ... I'm not ready for door dings yet so I haven't been taking her to work so Leon just collects her during my worktime and does the bits still to do as and when he can.

We'd had an issue with the bonnet strut, the bodyshop lost it and I was shocked at how much a bent piece of metal costs! Leon temporarily 'borrowed' one off another project build that won't need it for a while but having seen how Mikes bonnet struts make such a huge improvement to the bay I had decided to order some too. They arrived the day before JAE and Sachi was in JPS at the time but I held off doing it as I though the way my luck was going there would be an issue and I wouldn't get her back in time.

So .. off to JAE .. I still had about 96 miles of running in to do but I could tell she was itching to get her power back.. she has never been easy to keep below 40mph and by now she was impossible unless you kept her in low gears or sat on the brakes all the time. Even without the full power yet, she is a totally different car and I find myself slightly over protective .. the thoughts of loads of strangers poking around under the bonnet was making me very nervous. I was also nervous of the speedhumps I had heard so much about but she only scraped on one. Dino was the first person who saw her and his excitement made me smile .. thanks Dino.. and thanks for finding me, I could see the stand but couldnt work out how to get there lol

Excitement was short lived as when Rabster came over he asked what I had done to the front of her? Thinking he was winding me up I just laughed but when I looked the front bumper loose on one fitting and scuffed to stig.. I can't explain how I felt .. but I know she was fine when I'd left home so I have to presume that when I stopped at my office to pick up supplies from work an old lady had parked in front of me and she must have driven into her! 7.30 am on a saturday when the parking lane was practically empty and granny weatherwax has to park on my carSad .. Everyone was so kind, Outlaws are cool, offering to polish it up and have a look at fixing the bumper but I just didnt want everyone touching her so I cleaned off the worst of the scuffs and just hoped the corner of the bumper wasnt too noticeably broken. It doesnt seem to show in the photos I have seen and JPS fixed it for me Smile

I have fallen out with the bodyshop now.. they did restick the spats for me but it looks like the mop mark has just been painted over by a two year old with nail varnish and they are insisting they did take the paint back to metal where purple witch was written in the wrong place but I can still see it because 'paint is a funny thing' I shall be looking for somewhere else to do the last bits I want to do to the bodywork as once you have lost confidence it makes you nervous as to how they drive the car etc

JAE was amazing, the attention the car got was heartwarming and hearing the comments made was funny. I was too nervous to leave my bonnet up for long and I certainly couldn't leave her unattended in such a way. It was quite windy and rained on and off so that was a good excuse for me to not do so lol..

I thought the girls would be the ones most attentive of my car but I was surprised how many lads and older men admired it too.

As you can see from my signature, we won two awards and I cried ... shshsh.. I truly wasnt expecting anything at all except maybe one of rabsters jokey awards for the purplest car or something lol

Best Modified, well all credit to Leon really not me in anyway.. I just popped in saying 'More Purple, more Silver shiny' and left again.. I also very strongly feel that it should have gone to one of the amazing cars on the stand that had been modified predominantly by it's owner in person.. I['ve heard all the arguments lol and I am NOT giving my awards up now .. but I do think it's far more credit worthy when you do this kind of work yourself. At one point I very nearly did ask Mike to swap my first place for his his third, as his build is technically far more impressive ... but I recovered when I imagined handing it over lol .. sorry Mike (Yours does deserve first though)

Best of Show.. well that must have been a tough decision, there were so many stunning cars on the Outlaw stand . I promise no bribery, corruption or spells were applied in the decision making process lol

JAE over and so is my running in, infact I am way over my 1000 miles so Monday morning, Leon collects her and she goes for her fluid changes, full checkover and boost control restoration. He fits the new bonnet struts, which do look amazing.. and I get the car back towards the end of the week because he discovered more issues. At the 1.2 bar she is unresponsive and slow still and after a bit more investigation and testing seems my fuel pump is not up to the job. Interestingly enough, this car is BPU'd and should have had an uprated fuel pump as part of that, whether she did temporarily or not I don't know but what comes out is a stock pump and old at that.

I have old dyno charts from after a round of mods and BPU and they charted at 407. Dan Turismo is quite suprised by this without an uprated fuel pump and intercooler .. but although I have a full service history it's impossible to tell what was and wasn't on the car at the time of the dyno itself and was or wasnt removed after.

I get her back when Leon is 150% happy she is perfect with a warning that she will scare me for a while so go easy and find long straight roads.. very long straight roads to get used to her on.

I was far too excited on the thursday night to trust myself driving her and the friday night was quite busy getting ready for Japshow .. so with Dufus as her escort, Sachi's first proper powered drive was MK to Santa Pod. I had spent the night telling myself I wouldn't accelerate in MK, it was hard to stop her before all this in the distance between the roundabouts so I figured it might be impossible now. We drove all the way across town sedately and carefully and warmed up both cars appropriately. Between the edge of town and the Pod there is only one piece of long dual carriageway that's pothole free enough to have tried her out but I expected it to be busy so wasn't going to do anything rash..... then a van decided to cut Jim up behind me ! .. In front of me was two lanes of empty flat road and I kinda thought well it won't hurt to see how quick the acceleration is now .. so I let the van level with me and touched my accelerator slightly ...............WOW ..... OMG.... Leon and Jim would have freaked if they had seen me in the car because I did actually let go of the steering wheel and scream like a girl for a moment as Jim and van became a dot in the rear view mirror.... I cannot tell you how amazing this car is, how much quicker she is or what an amazing experience it is to drive her .. there just aren't words !

What I can tell you is over the course of seven months standing around, my brand new last year brake discs have warped and stopping her is like an hour long session on one of those vibrating belt exercise machines! Stiggit !

Japshow was brilliant, I am still stunned by the attention she gets from a surprising sector of the population. I heard a man, probably in his 40's say 'If there was one car, I would buy right now and drive away from here, it's this supra' And one lovely older lady told me she loved it because when she got married in 1950 something, she had wanted a purple headboard and they had scrimped and saved to get one and it was exactly this colour.. Isn't that sweet? She had looked at the car for ages and ages. Girls obviously loved the colour but the guys weren't shying away from her either Smile I think I am going to love this car ... a lot Smile
