Next update on progress with the bumper, pretty much there now!

All holes are filled, cracks fixed, low spots re-filled, and number plate support gone (Stav will be happy :thumbup1Smile

Just one final bit of sanding tomorrow (I decided to leave work at half 8 after 3.5 hours of sanding, filling and drilling tonight)

I also plan to fill the rear of the centre section with expanding foam to give it a bit more rigidity now I've chopped out the number plate support.

Crack in foglight surround filled...

Same bit but after sanding...

Reconstructed grill mounting point...

Reconstructed fender mounting points (during)...

And one of the above pictures but after I had re-drilled the mounting point...

Bumper with number plate support...

Bumper after I attacked it will an angle grinder and a dremel...

And the filler in the two holes it created being left to set...

Sparkystav Much better!

Cheers Stav Smile Also I've been thinking...now I have that nice big gap at the bottom of the bumper, would it be a ridiculous idea to mount an intercooler behind it that's not connected to anything just for asthetic purposes? Or am I gunna get flammed because people will think I'm pretending I have a turbo? lol

Err I'd mock you for it and I know you lol.

You gonna fit a 'power resister thing' as well?

Or you could just turbo the car?

Right, scrap that one then. lol

One of those 100hp capacitor things?

Well I guess my only option is to turbo it then :whistling:

I've actually been thinking about a suggestion you made a while ago, which was was to run a turbo with low boost and just use an FCD like in the supercharger setup. Not really worked out the cost of such a setup though, but I guess it would be a lot cheaper than normal as it wouldn't need super expensive ECUs and mapping etc?

What I'd really like is a Supra engine so I can get the same power but N/A.

You could do it I reckon for the cost of a charger kit.

Manifold and down pipe being the expensive bits. You could use a second hand turbo off a s14 or something to get you going. then a manual boost controller to keep the boost about .3 and a black box to control the fuelling.

It'll be spot on I reckon with the simple scope to improve by firstly getting an ecu and turning the boost up. Then later getting a bigger turbo.

Saweeeet, I'll finish what I've started on the outside then (get bumper, skirts and coilies fitted) then it's saving for turbo project for after winter Smile

Next batch of pictures ready Smile

Today's developments are as follows:

Clean up and smoothed over the holes where the number plate support used to be

Rubbed down the whole bumper a bit more to key it for painting

Fitted LED DRL's under the foglights (wait till you see the pictures before you go "ooh noo, he didn't?)

Anyway on with the pictures, carrying on from the last picture in my last update post...

Number plate support holes sanded and smoothed...

Did a test on my LED strips to see what multiples they are wired in (turns out it's in 3's). And luckily I needed 12 for what I was planning...

Used the number plate support as a test to see how easy it would be to mount the LED's from behind, as I didn't want anything visible from the front like these giant bicycle light looking things you get from halfords

Test piece roughly drilled and LED's test fitted...

And hey presto, flush mounted LED's...

So having proved to myself that it works, I drilled (much more carefully) the hole pattern for the lights in the back of the recess in the bumper...

Stuck the LED's through the holes from the back...

Which from the front looked like this...

Then a close-up of them illuminated...

And some further away shots...(they look much better in real life by the way)

Wooo the Stav seal of approval

Did take some careful planning and marking, although for me it wasn't as much of a problem because if I screwed up I could just fill them and have another go.

I never worked up the courage to drill holes in my spotless painted TTE bumper though. lol

But I had planned on using the recesses under the fogs on the TTE bumper to put a small strip of LED's in like this...(just to tempt you into having a go :p)
