Lexus V8
Lexus V8
Well as you all asked so nicely I thought I better start a project thread for my Lexus V8 venture, I started by looking for an ideal donor car, I want to use it over the winter whilst I rebuild the engine and sort out things like the prop shaft, manifolds etc. I came across a car on Ebay that had encountered the rear end of a car with a tow bar and picked it up for a bargain price, it has full service history all from Lexus, cambelt has been done, nearly new Dunlop tires etc etc. So here is a pic on arrival at my house
I then went trawling through ebay and found most of the parts I ned, so she now stands like this
I am just waiting on a new radiator as the second hand one I got has a nice hole in it, I also need to a different bumper as the other side of it is not very healthy which should all turn up this week.
Now onto the fun bit, this is what I have waiting to go into the car in the new year
And what I want it to look like before i chuck it in the car

I will update once I have done some more bits :-)
Lexusboy Yes I saw this engine on Thor web site...
Have you thought of asking them to sell this unit as they do sell some of them?
What gear box are you putting in?

reco2k Think it's an old pic plus i can build one to the same spec for a lot less then they sell them complete for, I have got an R154 manual box to go on it :-)

Well it's not cost as huge amount so far, the most expensive bits will be the ECU as I will need a standalone one ideally and the manifolds will work out to be about £2000-£3000 for the pair, apart from that I got the engine for £200, gearbox ended up costing me £50 after buying a stripping a mk3 supra, the car cost me £800 and I have spent £400 to get it road worthy, the conversion kit will be £250 so all in I will be around the 5k mark once mapped etc but for that it should be running between 350 and 400 hp depending on what intake i choose etc etc

going to be a interesting project finally someone using the proper 1UZ , just noticed if you are going to be running ITB's and a charger how are you planning on doing this enclosing them in a custom case?

This will be fun! Can you give me some information on the mating of the R154 and Engine please? I need to know how much I am looking at to get the two working nicely together.
Cheers,
