Fiesta is still soldiering on. I treated myself to a new phone at Christmas, so I bought a stereo for the car that supports USB so I can play tunes from the phone. Nothing fancy, just a £50 Sony job. Then Rob (Spawn) who bought my MR2 was kind enough to post me back one of the amps from the MR2 that he isn't using. The car still had all the wiring in it from when I had it amped up to the max when I first passed my test, so installing it all took about 10 minutes  And last weekend I saw a friend who had some Kenwood 6x9s, who was going to bin them, so I snapped those up too. Not fitted yet, but I have some ideas up my sleeve.

Also found that one coolant hose wasn't sitting quite right so it let the tiniest bit of coolant out when the car got VERY hot, so I reseated that and tightened the jubilee clamp up. The crappy plastic washer for the oil drain on the crappy ebay sump I fitted leaked. Sealed it all up with some Toyota FIPG stuff as I was in a hurry and it seems to be 100% leak free now.

This means it is doing its job, and costing me sod all and giving me no headaches, so I can concentrate on the V8. Happy days!

Turns out one of the springs ECP sold me was wrong/defective/didn't match the other one. So the car had a funny lean on as the NSF was REALLY low (1finger between tyre and arch) and the OSF was normal height (4-5fingers between tyre and arch). With the dodgy weather we've had this last fortnight it didn't really drive too well with all the weight on the baldest tyre! Swapped it out tonight, 1hr 15 mins for a suspension spring change. I am getting faster at this stuff!

The fiesta is still going!! But it's getting a bit worse for wear. I think the time off the road has eaten a few of the important components, 2 of the CV joints have failed - I think the boots either got brittle when not being used or were split before it was parked up, so putting it back into use has knackered them. Also once all the suspension work was done on the front end it's levelled out the car again which has put more load on the rear suspension than it had seen for a while (as well as carting a V8 about in the back of it) so one of the rear shocks has died which has had an incredibly bad effect on the handling - the slightest bump or undulation in the road makes the car pitch violently right  One of the rear axles has an issue too but at this stage I'm not sure if it's a failed bearing or a binding drum brake.

So, I am going to look at getting another runaround in the next month or two. My budget is about £500 and it will almost certainly be small and Japanese. The Fiesta is not going to the scrapheap in the sky just yet though... we have plans to give it a fitting send off, and raise some money for charity in the process.
