Leon of course was very quick to reassure me this was at no cost to me, although it would take some time as he needed to try and find out exactly which part had failed or if it was his fault in some way. Being the HKS world record holding drag car builder/driver her does have external technical engineers he can call on to assist and everyone agreed that sadly the new oil pump had just failed, very unusual for a toyota new part but nevertheless that was the guilty part. That doesn't make life any cheaper or easier for JPS as toyota will only refund the cost of the part so Leon foots the bill for stripping it down, getting it cleaned and all the parts he had to buy new again to rebuild her. I really do feel for him but there is no way I can afford to do this all over again after how much I spend last year
Anyway, just before Xmas, he called to say she was all done and was ready to be run in again - oh what joy! I hate running in, admittedly it wasn't as bad as last time, only 500 miles this time but he was concerned the weather might turn over xmas and god forbid after all this, we have ice and someone slides into it at my house so he offered to keep her locked up safe over the holiday and do some of the running in.
I am planning on getting her back for this weekend and finishing off this round of running in if possible, so if you want your one chance to overtake me, this is it lol
What a bummer!
Sounds like a proper mechanic you have got there though, really looking after you and the car. Hope it all works out in the end though
Gutted to read this Sam but hopefully now all is well and you can enjoy her again (especially as the weather doesn't look like its going to turn nasty - fingers crossed)

I am just so relieved it didnt make that noise when it went to Leon and it happened while he was driving not me, firstly I would have got totally hysterical .. it's not that I can call the AA to tow me anywhere without removing the front bumper first .. and secondly some people (and I don't think Leon would for a moment, not to me anyway) might argue it must be something I did.
A contributory factor to this I forgot to mention is that at some point since the first fluid change after running in and when this happened, my oil pressure warning light picked its moment to ask for its P45 (a phrase I heard recently and liked). Leon says there is no guarantee I would have had much of a warning anyway but you never know it might have made me pull over and stop before as much damage as was caused happened.
Oh god that must of been horrible Sam, glad she is all back together and running now...
Oh no sorry about those bearings! Nasty little buggers when they go!
