Catalytic converter problems
Over the past week or so I can smell what I would describe as a slight rotten egg/sulphur smell in the cockpit area of my Lexus IS200 Sport. I have recently changed my Cabin filter and charged the Air Con unit so my guess is that it should not be this. The car has some 140 k mileage. Would you guys reckon that my Cat' Converter is on the way or already shot? I don't intend buying one direct from Lexus.....ideas?:confused1:

try cleaning the intake sensor and giving the ecu a reset to see if it brings the initial fuel load down a bit

This is due to rich fuel condition with a cold engine. However, as the engine warms up, this smell should go away. If it does not, converter damage could possibly follow with extended driving."

the rest of the receipt refers tonuts /bolts and gasket /manifold gasket.
Does this mean that the Lexus IS200 has more than one Cat' Converter?

20-06-2020, 06:22 PM #7the eggy smell is a sign the cats are working properly, how often do you use your car? you could try givivg it a decent run for an hour or so to heat it up and burn off any buildup from inside the cat.
