Massive carbon build up issues, carbon builds up on the pistons, causing them to overheat and blow the head gasket, egr valves are always sticking open, burn oil, 5th injectors issues, fuel pump issues, the dpf always block up plus they're not actually that great on fuel

WOW, that's a bit disappointing, I love diesels, only because they are cheaper and easier to get more power out of, however i would go for a reliable diesel brand, the best diesels come from VAG stable as they have been doing it the longest.

Toyota diesels aren't good full stop. They are definitely best avoided.

hmmmm, I reserve the right to comment... The D4-D's aren't bad considering they (Toyota) haven't really put much into developing Diesels, they aren't perfect but they aren't bad, I'd take a Toyota diesel over an Opel/Vauxahall Diesel any day...

toxo Toyota diesels aren't good full stop. They are definitely best avoided.

My father bought 92' corolla, (I was 4 years old that time) brand new back that time. it was 1.8 diesel (1C) naturally aspired.
father drove it, mother drove it, and then I had it.... never had any problems with that engine. started up on half turn every time even on -35*C. easy could get 50mpg. did not burn oil, mot passed with ease... that was just birlliant engine... had to sell the car because body was rusted badly.
even when I sold the car, I was thinking of selling it without engine, just to keep it, because it was just amazing...
cant say anything bad about toyota diesel engines.

car factorys are loosing quality these days.
I know a guy with 2011 RX450h... and that car, my friends, is rusting... bonnet, roof, doors and around back up camera... sad story. and Dealer thinks they are fixing it just by polishing out the brown spots, which are reappearing after a week or two...
