Just to add to the long list of problems currently ailing my is200...... When the car is stood or crawling, the power steering is really rough. It judders and is rough as the wheel turns, there is also a sort of grinding noise from the engine bay. :-(
Anyone any ideas?

Yeah, I drained out the reservoir and refilled with fresh, but still no joy. :-(

I assume you checked the belt was tight then as well? Was the level ok before you changed it? Ie no leaks?

Could be the pump vanes maybe worn. Then can be changed but easier buying a secondhand pump,IMHO

I assume you checked the belt was tight then as well? Was the level ok before you changed it? Ie no leaks?

Yeah the level is fine. Belt doesn't appear worn or loose.
Would it be difficult to fit a new pump?
