Bandit Have you got a new set of head bolts/studs mate? usually reccomended when removing/replacing the head? Not sure on the IS though if its one of those things that are usually done?No, but I will ask, thanks. Steve hasn't mentioned those to me so I'm assuming he doesn't think that's needed. I'll check though.

Its just because the more I read it the more I want to do something similar.
I would like to go the way Stav has went but would also like to see yours when finished.

Worth checking, I've read that it might as well be done at the same time, then you know they are in top nick and got the strength behind them, you can stick with OEM bolts or ARP are always a good bet, I would go with whichever is cheaper as they'll both be strong enough.
Is the HG a thicker one for lowering the compression or are you sticking with the standard compression ratios / using the GTE pistons?

I wonder whether the bolts might as well be swapped just to be on the safe side.

parthiban Totally out of curiosity and nothing else, are you going to be dressing the engine up in any way while it's in bits like polishing it up?No. It would be a very nice idea, but that would probably take a fair bit of time in itself to do properly. And given that my Lex is my daily driver, I don't want the car to be off the road for any longer than necessary. I guess I'll just have to try and clean it up myself as best I can !
