Hi all..

Fault light came on this morning.. fault code is cylinder 1 misfire.

I swapped the coil packs.. stays on cyl 1. Swapped the plugs and stays on cyl 1.

Anyone had similar problem?

I have to check the wiring harness next.

It's not the plugs or the coil pack.. The plug also sparks... mmmmmm deeper troubles ahead!!

Anyone got a link for an engine repair manual?

Yep that's what I'm hoping... I will try get a compression test today then it rules out the mechanical part. It's only done 50k miles so shouldn't be valves but never know.

Compression test results... ZERO compression on cylinder 1.... ****!

The system is obviously smarter than I am.. not sure what it's picking up or from where.

I did notice it was down on power a few months ago but put it down to 40c and air con on.. I guess that was the start of it. I'm hoping it's just a burnt valve. I will get a boroscope in there tomorrow morning hopefully it should be obvious. Hoping it's not rings etc.

It's a good days work but I'm going to strip the head fully and get it in the ultrasonic cleaner so takes but longer.

Quick look inside reveals the problem... also some slight burning on number 4.
