Hmmm yeah, pitty this didn't work out for you. 
Would making the pipe longer not help?
I mean i imagine with the pipe being longer you basically tackle problems 1 and 2 as the length of the pipe will/should give the airflow time to correct itself from turbulence before going into the throttle body (in theory any way), would imagine then if you use a reducing joint at the throttle body that this will help speed up the airflow in a similar fashion to when you use a garden hose and use your finger at the opening to make the water squirt out harder/faster. 
Another option to correct the turbulence could be to create "fins" in the tube after the MAF sensor should just be a simple case of fashioning a "cross" from some stainless  steel strips they should form fins or aerofoils if you will, in the shape of cross or "crosshairs" (hope that makes sense)
