Thanks for your input P.Lindblom.
I've just revised the calculations I initially made and you are correct, my mistake on that one.

Still, 8% isn't a massive loss on paper, but when we're talking 0.3bar at best every little helps I suppose.
But i'm happy to run off the crank for the foreseeable, until I can sort a "proper" pulley out.
Smaller S/C pulleys are out there somewhere as another option, just not a cheap one and at the sacrifice of the clutch.

Do you have any "official" figures on the M62 as to at what RPM, peak boost is achieved?
I understand that 12k is about the safe continuous running RPM, and that 14/16k is absoloute max for short bursts...

Wayne - 206 seems like a carefully selected number aha
would it be considered optimistic given I'll be running less boost lol

Things are moving forward a little quicker

I have decided to go with an intercooler after all.
After the extra calculations on the pulley speeds, I have treated myself and ordered a smaller pulley for the supercharger. With this an intercooler would definitely be sensible...

So the plan will be to run the system as is off the crank and at a later date when more boost is "required" add the smaller pulley.

So this is the early christmas present - Ebay-spesh IC & piping

[Image: IMAG0738.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0739.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0727.jpg]
After starring at the front end for a while and roughly planning the path of piping, I went for 2.25" piping & IC just to free up a little more room for the piping.

Waiting for a day off or two to get it all "test mounted"
pics will follow

Initially I didn't want an intercooler... Keep the stealthier/sleeper look, or more likely I'm just lazy.

With one day off before christmas and working up to & including christmas a couple of late nights have yielded some progress;

[Image: IMAG0763.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0762.jpg]
Clearence for piping is good, I was hoping to be able to holesaw the top layer of the crash and the bottom, sink the lugs of the IC into the crashbar for a flush fit, but it wouldn't clear the bumper.

So I mocked up some L brackets and self tapped it to the back of the crashbar
[Image: IMAG0764.jpg]
Plan sorted.

Basics of the piping planned for rooting.
A nice large holesaw below the driver's side headlight should suffice nicely and plenty of undertray cut away on the passenger side.

With a little a daylight, I set about freeing up a little more room to ease the pipe rooting
[Image: IMAG0766.jpg]
Trimmed 1/2" off the seems around the A/C rad, both sides.

[Image: IMAG0767.jpg]
Shimmied the power steering cooler out the way a little aswell

[Image: IMAG0778.jpg]
Final brackets mocked up ready for test fitting & tweaking.

And all the above in aid of;
[Image: IMAG0754.jpg]

These are gorgeous, chuffed with how they came out.
Thanks to a good friend for measuring them up and drawing up the files.

Happy New Year!

After only progress last year, I'm aiming to have this set up, up & running by the end of January (lol)

Some more progress now the hangovers have worn off;
[Image: IMAG0795.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0799.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0800.jpg]

[Image: IMAG0803.jpg]

So in January I've either gonna teach myself to weld, or most likely have a go then let someone "who can" make up the manifolds.
All piping is planned as much as it can be, one final ebay order and hopefully all the missing pieces will be on their way.

Only issue I have is getting the bumper to clear the intercooler, I should be able to wiggle out an extra 1/2" at best. All else fails it's bumper cuttting.
Does anyone have any pics of their IC mounted & piping?

PCV valve rooting. On all set ups i've seen the original pipe to the airbox is connected to the s/c inlet.
I was planning on running the throttle body pipe to the s/c inlet, blanking off the throttle body pipe. Working on the basis that this pipe uest to have vacuum (pre-charger) but now will have + pressure. So to keep it happy give it what is now the new inlet/vacuum, supercharger inlet.
Is it ok to run the PCV valve/system in reverse?

Are you confusing PCV with Breather?

The PCV should be attached to the inlet (after throttle body) so it sucks the vapours out.

The Breather is normally attached to the inlet, and can just have a little filter on it after the install.
