Cold weather
Anees I know we have gone slightly off topic here but:No worries, I think I had the original question answered now
I actually had my BMW on ebay last week to sell it because I wanted to sell it and get something else (I'd had it almost four years) but even though the car SOLD and I actually got a decent ish price for it, I just couldn't sell it. I would love an 335d but its in Auto only (not really my thing) and would cost me probably another £10 - 12K+ on top of what I would sell my 330D for, which is actually quicker with its current mods then a standard 335d (obviously remapped 335d would be different story) so can not really justify it.
This week I have been loving it. Been an absolute monster to drive and so glad I kept it. Need to sort a few bits out on it, such as a freer flowing EGR valve that I have been waiting for and duct my FMIC properly.

Bandit is right - its the TORQUE that talks. I read on a Skyline/Evo/Supra forum once that the torque curves on alot of diesels peak very early at low rpm and then tail off very quickly which is why they feel so rapid initially but don't have that much top end.
My car pulls all the way to the 5K RPM and I know the 335d/535d with the remaps do the same but I am sure the torque drops off the higher up the rev range you go. All I know is it feels quick!
My mate has a Seat Leon FR with the remap (new shape in yellow) looks awesome and I think it is pushing around 200bhp+ ! It is a quick car but honestly the larger 330d enigine LEAVES it mid-range and top end. Its a bit noisy too in that you can tell its a diesel from the clattering.
To be honest (this might sound wrong!) but I think I prefer driving a (BMW) diesel to a normal petrol car. Power is always available almost instantly, its quiet and smooth and the car doesn't bleed you dry at the pumps either.
I just wish the japs made a decent performance diesel that can take on the Germans. I'd love a quality diesel with similar performance to a 330d/335d in something like the new Mazda 6 or Honda Accord - both looks really nice, especially the Mazda 6 which is what I think the IS250/IS220d should have looked like.
I had a play with a bmw645 last night and it pulled away from at the start but once up in the 150+ area i started to leave him, the look on his face as he saw a 15 year old skyline drive past was a picture  but thought it wasn't to bad being as it had got around 30ftlb more torque than me and around 25bhp more? but limited to 155 so just had the edge at the top end but quite an even play :w00t:
Anees Err....... I don't even want to know the name of your private track where you hit 150+ :o :p lol

Marsdendean Parthabiban, my 1.9TDI leon ran out of puff towards 3500RPM, but it redlined at 4000rpm.That's exactly what I hate about diesels, and I've had experience of a VAG group diesel (we used to have an A3 1.9TDi) and it was horrible. The power lumps in, and then it's gone almost as quick as it came in - it was quick, but a horrible driving experience. I'd take the slow IS200 over that any day - plus it made the most awful racket all the time, and from what I've seen of the newer ones it's not much better either. The BMW diesels are the only ones that are closer to petrols in behaviour than anything else.

Bandit We have a few good airfields round this way :thumbup1: it quite odd as at 155 it still has around 1100rpm to go :thumbup1::w00t:Nice, I hate it when you end up on an abandoned airfield all of a sudden like that with a 645 wanting to race you

The limiters off mate, there limited to 112 when they come from Japan, but have hit 167 on the gps in the past few weeks
Need more power now though will have to try and get a pic of the gps the next time i'm up there :thumbup1:
I agree with all the points made on diesel engines, although I have limited experience of one. A Megane 1.9tdi hire car in Ibiza earlier this year. It pulled like a train, but it honestly just gave up the ghost far too quick.
Twice a week when I am at the fuel pump, I swear down I am going to trade in and get a diesel. But then I drive 100yards down the road, and realise the error of my ways.
Granted the IS200 is a tad slow, but you just have to drive better! And I've out dragged a few VAG diesels. Eon, Golf and Audi 1.9TDi's tend to fall by the way side.
My Is also runs a bit better in the cold, when its really hot, it just feels a bit sluggish. But think thats the lack of induction kit.
James have you got a standard filter fitted or a K&N? the k&n drop in filter i found was a lot better than an induction kit on my is200? You get more noise with the induction kit but found the k&n seemed to give a better response :thumbup1:
I made my own induction kit for my IS200 and all it needed was a better filter but it worked well
This is the induction kit i made for around £40
But changed to this not long after..
