Quick google search apparently for my engine the "normal" oil temp should be between 75 and 90C - so cooler is OK. Heat is the enemy, something the MR2 turbo suffers from in the sweat put of its engine bay!!
but on the flip side cold oil is less viscous so flows less round the engine lubricating.
its not a critism mate just an observation :thumbup1:
A valid point!!
I will be changing the oil again over Xmas, so will put in the correct type for this application, I am sure there is one suitable.
Yeah I was going to make the same comment on the oil temp. Sometimes people get carried away with oil coolers etc, and on a cold day they might find the oil never warms up properly so never does its job properly. It's possible to get an "oilstat", kind of like a thermostat, so you can have it that the oil cooler only comes into operation when the oil gets warm enough, thereby getting the best of both worlds (i.e. warm enough to work at its optimum, but gets cooled down if it gets too hot).
Very pleased for you that you've got her back Phil, and well done to SPC for sorting it out to your liking
