CD player broken
CD player broken
I think my CD player's broken now too :Sulk:
I don't use it that often since I hooked up my iPod but there was one CD in it and that was playing fine. However, this morning I tried to put a new one in - got the wait lights flashing, then load, but when I tried to push the CD in it wouldn't take it. Then after a few seconds, "wait" came back on and it pushed the CD back out.
I ejected the CD that was already in there and that came out fine, but it still wouldn't load anything even after that. To make things worse I then pressed disc which flipped it to CD1 as there was no CD in the player, and now if you press load it doesn't even flash wait anymore.
I'm going to try disconnecting the grom at the weekend to see if that resets it, but it seems the problem is with the mechanism that takes CDs in which is odd as the eject is still working.
Is the CD player dead or is this something that might be fixable? I can't actually remember anyone having this problem so hopefully it might not be a terminal fault.
If it's a top-loader you can try taking the lid off and seeing if you can see an obvious problem, e.g. something stuck in the mechanism. With a bottom-loader you'd be stuffed, but you might well be able to sort yours out if it's a top-loader.
sounds like the start of Err3 to me mate
Disconnect the battery to see if that resets the system?
It's a top loader, and technically the mechanism is still working, is there a sensor or something that knows to pull the CD in when you push one in?
And good idea, I'll try disconnecting the battery to see if it jogs it.
Give it a good smack aswell you never know :w00t: it might help

SHAHZ Errrr its called a 'technical smack'!!.......does sound as though the unit is on its way out.......i think its just a waiting game with these units, hope you manage to sort it with a reset though

Treat yorself to a new on mate, it's the best thing you'll do:thumbup1:
Well I'll see if I can get it going, but otherwise I'm not going to bother, the iPod's fine for now - if I start looking at headunits I know I'll end up spending a few grand which I definitely don't want to do
