i use mine all the time mate, sound quality is miles better than a standard ipod and the apps are good, also u can use ure wireless internet and its surfs pretty good,

stav- you can get an obd link kit to wirlessly link yours or anyone elses obd port to your ipod using the specific app,,then you can use the ipod as a fault reader or set up as gauges a bit like that one you let go a little while ago- i think the wireless obd sender prices start at about £60 up to £150 depending on which brand-- i dont know how much the app is but ill try and look it up later if you r interested
