hi guys,i have just finished putting my engine back together, after i went through
a large puddle and my gt30 had a bit of a drink, that ended up bending a con rod
.i drove with a bent con rod at 286bhp for about 4 weeks,it started to knock so bad i had to get a new bottom end.so in the mean time i did some work on the head taking some squish out and lowering the cr.after that i did the valve clearances, and put it all back dieing to know if my head tickling was going to
make more hp.
got it on the dyno,my head work meant we could put a load more ignition back in witch normally would be taken out.so i ended up with 320bhp at 0.9bar,and i still have loads more fuel,so when we get time i shall turn it up to 1.1-1.3bar and i should see 350bhp.but for the min 320bhp and 300ftlb will do.

oh and i still can not beleave that my con rod didnt brake,it just shows you how strong they are.

You bent a con-rod ? So it sounds like the standard internals aren't so good after all for the sort of power you were running ?

Which rods have you got in now, OEM ones, or upgraded ones ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

No con rod would survive a drink, water is not compressible!!

hi steve,as phil says water dose not burn.so as my gt30 turbo sucked in some it had no other place to go other than my engine witch lead to bending a rod as the water dose not compress.but after it took that fatal drink i was driving it for 4weeks or so.and then 286bhp got to much for it and it developed a nasty knock.so i got a new bottom end still std as thats all i have the money for.so i had a little fred whittle in the head and did the valve clearances and stuck it all back together got it on the dyno.
as we keep saying the std bottom end is alot stronger than you all think.
