New Car!
New Car!
Nice looking car there Hurricane :thumbup1: all you need to do now is update the Avater
Goodwood green in fact (even though it is NOTHING like the Goodwood green you get on any other car ever). Great colour, Rev3 only I believe and that one looks tidy. If you need any body panels there are a few I know of in that colour being broken at the moment
I hope you managed to get that fuse sorted, it's in such a frigging stupid place!
That's a bit naff... I've got some spare head units lying around (single din and double din) and ISO conversion leads if required. No original Toyota ones though. Presumably as it's a UK one it doesn't have the premium / active sound system.
I really need to have a garage clearout lol
Ok first things first the brakes need sorting. This morning i ordered front and rear discs and ebc ultimax pds from crn performance. I found they had a group buy over on mr2oc, so i got in on that. The discs are going to be zinc plated in gold as well, so should sort things out. I also ordered a caliper refurb kit from bigg red, although from reading up on things i may need new caliper pistons as well, but i will see when i strip them down.
The plans that rabster has mentioned.
The headlight on the driver side is pretty naff, so searching on ebay i came across smoked projector units. so im thinking ill get those ordered along with a HID kit, which should improve things quite a bit.
Stereo wise i bought an alpine unit in january, which is currently fitted into the omega so this will be getting swapped over.
Toxo, do you have a single din fitting, as the current unit is double din?
Also, the car has a bit of an issue idling when cold, any ideas?
Nope I don't have a DIN spacer... you can pick them up cheap off eBay though. You'll still be using the mounting brackets that hold the double din unit in for your single din anyway (none of this cage fixing rubbish) so it's only the plastic panel that you'll need. They can even be bought from Toyota for f'k all.
I would be careful with the smoked headlights on eBay, a lot of them are not 'E' marked (or even worse are produced in the US so point the wrong way) and you'll fail an MOT for them. Mind you I have illegal headlamp lenses in mine and I've only failed once - I failed many times for my HID kit!
Idling issue when cold is probably your ISCV full of crud. When you say issue, is the idle just too low, or lumpy, or hunting up and down?
If you're going to refurb your brake calipers (especially the rears) get your big book of swearwords ready! I would love to meet the bloke who designed the handbrake mechanism... And remember that the refurb kits DON'T include the sliders, which are sometimes the problem with sticky calipers.
Cheers for the quick reply.
The headlights are made in USA, so that could be a problem, although i do have a very friendly MOT tester, so im sure that wouldnt be a problem.
Regards to the cold idle, it doesnt. it wont run unless i hold the throttle on for about 30secs. the revs just drop straight off till it dies. once its warmed up/run for 30 secs or so, it seems like a nice idle, no hunting.
I am only planning on refurbing the front calipers. The rears seem to be working ok, and the handbrake is good. the rebuild kit has all the seals, but no slide pins, but unless they are badly corroded im hoping a good polish up and a hit of silicone grease should see them working nicely
