US ones will point the wrong way and you can't fit them in upside down... he might be friendly but I bet you want to be able to see where you're going at night!

What rpm does it idle at once warmed up? If it were your ISCV it should be rubbish all the time. No harm in cleaning it up though - carb cleaner will do the job and the ISCV is just underneath the throttlebody. Be careful when you take the throttlebody off because it's got coolant in it Smile I'd run a multimeter over the ECU coolant temp sensor as well to make sure that is reporting properly.

My calipers had been sticking for so long that the heat had warped the sliders which was a bit of a pain Smile If you ever get to the point where you want to rebuild the rear calipers don't, get refurbed ones from brakes international and swap them.

Nice car! I've got the same alloys and take it from me, you'll be cleaning brake dust off them like a second job =/ Not easy to clean.

OK so i have a few bits to check out over the weekend.

From what i remember the idle is at or very close to 1000rpm once it is warmed up. i have read about the coolant hoses going to the TB, are they different to the two coolant hoses going to the ICV? Also is the a workshop manual to refer to? i currently know nothing about the 3s-ge engine

There are a few about, you need to be searching for an MR2 BGB or Celica BGB. Way more difficult to find for the 3S-GE engine than the 3S-GTE though. However the stuff you're looking at will be the same across both engines at that age.

Yes, the coolant hoses go to the TB not the ISCV but you can't remove the ISCV without removing the TB (I think...).

i have found a bgb for the 3sgte. i would have thought the sensors are the same so that will help me out. does the 3s-ge also run a cold start injector? as i said before once it has warmed for about 30 secs it seems ok. ill definately check out the coolant temp sensor thought, as i know how much an effect they can have

No, rev3+ just uses the better engine management to manage cold starts rather than a temp switch and 5th injector which you would find on the earlier cars.

The rev number doesn't refer to the engine... but the japanese rev5 cars got a very special N/A engine which was the predecessor to the Altezza one. Rev5 UK cars have the exact same engine as rev3 and rev4.
