I know the stereo's in the IS depend on the code on the front as to which cars they'll work in but what are the chances of a bottom loading stereo from a 2001 working in a 99? is it luck of the draw if you don't know your code or was something changed between the years hence the different codes

I think it can be made to work but it's not plug and play as the plugs on the back are different I believe.

Plugs are different, you may have have splice up the loom in your car.

You mean the 5-digit code on the front ? I think there's more than one in that time period though. Mine is a 99 car and had a 13902 bottom-loader.

When mine broke ERR3 I took it somewhere for them to source a ISO lead for it but they weren't available then I found out about the by-pass cable so I got a replacement Sony unit and by-pass cable but never went back for the OEM unit, now I want to put an OEM one back in my car if I can so wanted to know the code for that year but if there's more than one it makes more difficult:Sulk: hope that clears it up
