is300_dino is it like 3.6 turns for the wheels to catch up with the non spinning wheel

You need to work out the final drive ratio, i.e. which gear you are in multiplied by the diff ratio. That then gives you the final drive at the wheels, i.e. the number of times the engine turns to rotate the wheels once.

If you have a 3.6 diff then for whatever gearing you feed into the diff (i.e. from the gearbox), it has to turn 3.6 times to make the wheels turn once.

This is all about the drive ratios, nothing to do with the LSD part of it.

steviewevie You mean putting a 3.9 diff in, instead of 3.6 ? You will get slightly better acceleration but lower top speed. You will also get increased noise and fuel consumption. Basically you will have higher revs at the same road speed when compared to before.

ok so going higher is a bad idea so what would the effects be of going lower? isnt the tte one a 2.5 or something?

Going lower is the opposite. So you would get a higher top speed, less acceleration, and less revs for the same speed (so quieter and better fuel economy).

Not sure which TTE one you mean, are you thinking of the TRD diff ? I wonder if you're thinking of the 1.5-way LSDs, but that's a totally different thing, that *is* relating to how the diff slips or not, and nothing to do with the final drive ratio. Like you have 1-way, 1.5-way and 2-way LSDs. Sorry if I am misunderstanding you.

i think im getting the gist of it. your right i was getting confuzzled with lsd slip speeds and diff drive ratios. so the diff holds the lsd it can either be locked or spinning. the drive ratio is worked out by how many times the engine spins the axle/s followed by the slip ratio on how many rotations the wheels can turn individually, the higher the DR you'll go slower top end but get there quicker, lower DR you'll go faster but get there slower. and with slip the higher the ratio should be better handling as the wheels can spin at faster individual speeds and lower then your going to go very sideways.

The TRD one is the one I removed from my Lex, Wayne counted all the teeth and it just happened to be the same as the IS200 Auto - causing the car to rev really hard and use loads of fuel in the process.

This is the internal shots of an LSD and STD Diff, as fitted to Chri5's Lex:

Phil will be able to confirm for you. But I think it started off as an open diff, then LSD was put in with TRD gear for higher final drive ratio, then that was changed back to the standard LSD gear.
