I've had a car inspection done and just had the report come back and it said that the oil level was too high. Just checked and it is about 5mm above the top mark.
Could this damage the engine?
What is the best way to take that little drop out?

I doubt that will cause any problem. If you're concerned about it then you could use a syringe or try and siphon some out with a piece of tubing if you like.

Right haveing to much oil in the engine is just as bad to not haveing any oil or haveing oil to low

just undo the oil plug in the sump, and take some out then just do it up once you are done....Smile

HHHMMM please tell me how you are going to get oil out the top of the engine when the oil sit,s in the sump, you say that its 5mm over the max mark, the best way of geting oil out and it will take you 5min,s to do so is from the sump!!! for it to be over by 5mm you have about 1 or 2 lt,s more than you should have!!

no its not a mucky job mate, you will be ok, just get the sump nut 2 or 3 turn,s and the oil should start to come out ( what ever you do dont take the nut all the way out, or you will get mucky lol) then just do it back up when you got some oil out....

Lee you should of popped over to see my brother, he has one of the suction kits that kwik fit use and they take it out of the dip stick hole by sliding a pipe down it and then they pump it out using a vacuum pump, Smile great bit of kit and saves getting dirty CLICK ME! And it gets nearly all the oil out of the sump :thumbup1:
