Marsdendean Really don't like this auris. The 3 door ones, the doors are the lengh of the car, feels like a greenhouse inside because the windows are that big, really don't like them, and i would no way spend £18K on a car!Yeah I don't like the auris either but I don't think it's aimed at people like us - as with most Toyotas it's aimed at people who just want to get from a to b.
Yeah quite a few down here have auto only licences - no offence intended but from the people I know that did it most of them are women.........
It depends what fuel consumption you get with the current micra as to how much you'll save. Our Prius isn't driven particularly frugally but generally returns 45-50 mpg, the auris being lighter and with the newer hybrid system should be better I'd think.
And from what I remember of how I drove as a learner driver the mpg should be fantastic - really light on the throttle, driving most of the time at 29mph, perfect conditions for a hybrid

Our Prius returns a regular 52MPG, with the tax saving and insurance saving it saves me £4500 a year in basic running costs over the IS200, in 2 years it will have paid for itself in running costs alone. I calculated the saving on our normal weekly mileage and didn't take into account extra trips (days out, shows, visiting the in-laws, holidays etc).
Servicing is cheap also - even at main the dealer, so I suppose thats another saving the 3SGTE would have needed 3 services in the same time the Prius needs 1 service, could that knock the savings to 5K a year.
Marsdendean If i had £18,000 i would spend it all day long on a car, just not an Auris hybrid!!

Won't be long before Lexus steal the design and put a big "L" badge on it, like they did with a lot of their cars..............
