OK, charger is squealing so loud louder then the charger whine! so i took the belt off for now just incase it doing damage! i take it its going to be the bearing sound is coming from front of the charger? so what my options take apart and try greasing it up? or can you get new bearings? if so where from and what size or part number?

any help on this matter will be appriciated!

Other than the shaft bearings I can't think what would make a squealing noise like that. I wouldn't run it until you know what's up though incase the rotors are rubbing or something.

Try turning the pulley by hand to make sure it's moving freely

Hold the pulley and wiggle it left/right, up/down etc. to see if there is any play in the shaft

They are designed to be lifetime sealed so you should never have to open them up, but I think Ormi did a guide on how to service them. Which basically just involves taking the front off, changing the oil, and putting it back together. Without going nuts on it an oil change is all you can do easily I think.

There are a couple of good guides I followed when servicing mine. Rob posted all the info about fully stripping the unit and part numbers and sizes etc. I would try to link you but on my phone!

Make totally sure it is not the belt before stripping the whole thing down though as they can squeal. Maybe even replace the belt anyway, my last one was about a fiver. Also check the pulley as Sprinter describes. The charger is designed to be pretty much maintenance free though. My oil was fairly clean, the bearings fine and the seals like new, this was after 6 years and about 50k miles!

EDIT: Is there any vibration? Knackered bearings or fouling rotors would surely cause vibration as well as squeaking? I would suspect the belt. I have had a belt slip and squeal like mad in the past, (would loose some boost too.)

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Dimis and Rob have both bought bearings. Might be somewhere in Dimis mighty Project thread.

Could be belt or bearings......Once you fit the belt (should be 5pk790/800) and made sure the tensioner is as tight as can be.....and if it is still squealing then we need a vid Smile

ok got new belt tensioner as only one was grinding, got new belt fit it tight n stoped the noise, still got slight bearing grumble from the pully and a bit of a grinding from the rotor bearing so, just dont want to do any damage for the sake of some £30 bearings and a bit of grease so any way when i do it will get some pics and info incase anyone else ever needs it, just i think the charger i got was from someone who wasnt into maintaining things, so going to do a good overhall!
