Radiator for IS200 - 16mm or 26mm?

I need a new radiator for my IS200. My stock rad is 26mm in thickness, but I see that replacements are offered in both 26mm and 16mm, and indeed Lexus have those two sizes themselves.
Mine is an early car (manual), I wonder if they changed to 16mm later just to save some money/weight?
Does anyone have any experience of swapping a 26mm for a 16mm, i.e. whether it was up to the job? The 16mm ones are cheaper of course!

I'd go for a 26mm mate. Or even better splash out on an alloy one!
Welcome back btw

Thanks Stav. Yes, I would ideally like to go for the lovely shiny alloy one on eBay, but the trouble is that it's even thicker (45mm), and I imagine it might be a pain to fit with all my intercooler piping in there.
