BP CEO Hayward - US Congress
BP CEO Hayward - US Congress
Been watching it live on news, this evening for a couple of hours, now and wow they not afraid of asking direct and blunt questions.
The CEO has been ripped apart, but this is sooo going to reflect on us, as remember BP, is "British Petroloem"
Wish they had a congress here in UK, who can question like this !
Quote:The CEO has been ripped apart, but this is sooo going to reflect on us, as remember BP, is "British Petroloem"

The American are getting to be real bullies.
Tango is spot on the name is about all that is British on this Job and no one else is being blamed.
Don't get me wrong The UK makes a lot of money from BP £1 in £6 in pensions are from BP Shares.
It does not read well when you have a CEO who is not good with his reply's in public statements.
The rig was owned by Transocean
The blow off valve was owned by transocean
BP told Transocean it was going to fail so fix it
Transocean tried to fix it but under US law they had to "Tender" the work out which took far to long and then it failed!
What am i missing? American Company / American Laws, British with the blame?
Tango BP is an International Company and hasn't been 'Briitish Petroleum' for over eight years.
Tango Anyway it wasn't a BP vessel or crew that caused the problem, or BP equipment that was on board. All the Companies involved (Halliburton, Transocean & Cameron) are American (although Transocean chose to re-register in Switzerland for tax reasons). Transocean, as far as I'm aware, are still paying out a $1 Billion to their shareholders in dividends while BP has been railroaded into witholding dividend payments until at least 2011 and of course agreed to put $20 Billion into a slush fund for compensation, which no doubt Obama and his crooks will be free to give away to anyone who can come up with any excuse for loss of earnings.
BP do have a major share in the block that the drill rig was drilling in, although around 40% is with other companies. It makes it difficult to understand why BP seem to be the only company being penalised and slagged off by the media.

BP Have to take the blame at first as they are the owners and tender the jobs out.
If you buy a car with a badge on lets say Ford
When they have problems with their tyres like a few years ago the tyre was suppied by Bridgestone or firestone can't remember who.
The driver of the car sued Ford for the defect Then it was down to Ford to sue the supplier of the tyre.
In this case dont BP own the Business and sub it out to the other to do the work?
If this is the case then BP need to sue their supplier or people that tendered the job.
They should of all been called to the meeting yesterday so the truth was told.
The Yanks don't like to say they are wrong is the bottom line.
Tango it's clear BP are being destroyed by the US for some reason, are there any indications as to why? Are they trying to move US investment from what is technically a "British" firm over to the US oil firms?
Similar to what happened with the Prius breaking faults and Caldina accelerating fault, the ONLY place there was an "issue" was the USA, and they crucified Toyota. I bet if the same thing happened to a US firm nothing would have been said, just a quiet brush under the carpet.
Its the USA looking after its own by killing overseas competition.
