parked up went to shop, 15 mins later and nothing! no start solenoid, didnt lock unlock with the fob etc. got a jump start and was heading to my mates workshop then it died again on the motorway - just as if someone turned the key.

zero power and when turning the ign off a mad chattering of a relay in the footwell.... i was thinking headlight relay

got my mate to jump the car again, got a new battery from the german dealer for €105 ( swiss dealer wanted to rape me for the pleaseure of 250 chf!!).

new battery and all is 100 fine.

Can only assume an internal short!

so thise going 4 long distance trips make sure your breakdown cover is current and your battery is in good condition.

yep, getting about 14v so its being charged... can only assume inteernal battery fault, but would have thought the alternator would have done its job, but if it was an internal fault it may have been shorted.

Who knows but everything was pointing to battery fault as no power then slowly slowly had a faint glow from the dash lights.

new battery and all is ok now though.

I hope everyone on the trip has european inc switzerland recovery or assistance???
