MacBooks
So after the recent going ons I need a new laptop and have been looking at the Macbook Pros.
Has anyone had dealing with them and are they worth the £1k price tag?
In terms of design and construction, absolutely - in terms of the software, that's personal choice, although modern macs can run windows as well so you can choose
What is the operating system like then compared with Windows?
Main thing is are they reliable have had dells and samsung and they have lasted no longer than 2 years. if im paying £1k for a computer I want it to last.
If you want bulletproof I'd highly recommend Lenovo - I've got one that I've had now for several years and it gets treated quite badly and it's still going strong
This is just my personal opinion but to me laptops are things that don't last that long so I personally wouldn't spend a huge amount of money on one as you are most likely going to have to replace it after a few years.
Thats the thing dont have room for a desktop and need something I can move around which is why I get laptops. I have an external HD which I use to store my ever growing music collection.

Only apple product I will have is an iphone 4. Thing im confused with is the operating system. Is it like windows where you get a simple starter then you have to upgrade at a huge expense to unlock new things like wallpapers etc

With windows you get starter and have to get home premium in order to do more things like put wallpapers on your desktop. With Macs you dont have windows however is it a similar deal you get a basic system and you need to upgrade
