Explicit lyrics
Explicit lyrics
What exactly is the point of explicit lyrics? I get it with some rap because it fits, but in the majority of cases there really is no point for it........
Two tracks at the mo that got me thinking about this are Billionaire and Forget you (of which the original version is F*** you). In both of these tracks it really is just one word, and this word is changed for the radio edit so when you hear the original version afterwards it doesn't sound right anyway. And means you can't play these versions around kids and stuff, which is silly for mainstream music.
In the case of the cee-lo track it means a completely different track title so again just makes it so stupid - is it just that these guys are morons fundamentally and think that swearing somehow makes them and their music cooler?
Come on ever since the "Never mind the Bollox" album by the wonderful *** pistols "Explicit lyrics" have been very common.
It is true that as we all get older swearing gets more and more annoying - even I stop and think kids nowadays have disgusting language, and mine is non to clean sometimes.......
I knew the swear filter would block the name of a truly ground breaking band:glare:
Don't get me wrong, I'm not that old just yet! :tongue_smilie:
It's just that the swearing should make sense and actually add something to the track - the two that I've mentioned work perfectly fine in their radio edit forms, the original explicit versions in comparison just sound really silly like they somehow wanted to fit a swear word in there somewhere.
swearing for the sake of it in recorded material is a little sad - I do agree.
Lol I knew billionaire would be f'ing billionaire the first time I heard it....... These kids these days just swear for the hell of it, back in the days of nwa it was something new so they got away with making it work in their rap
That "It's Not Fair" song by Lily Allen has a couple sections cut out on the radio that are on the CD - I didn't think they were actually all that explicit tbh for a song all about the word that got blocked in Phil's mention above...
Makes the songs sound weird IMHO when you hear the full version...
Carpediem unfortunately i swear like a merchant sailor,..........thats what you get for growing up around,.....well sailors and farmers
but i do try to restrain nowadays

Even on Katy perry's album she efs and jeffs!
But I agree can see it with angry rap like DMX and Eminem but songs that are played on radio and music tele aint on. Half the time you can figure out the word bleeped out
