well lads,

new to this section ha but have a friend who has a 94 wrx standard edition and i have a 95 sti type ra. what complcations are there in putting the engine and gearbox from the sti across?? the sti has non repairable chassie damage!!

any help would be great??

it should be a straight switch over, the loom on the engine just plugs in to the chassis loom.

well

engine, gearbox will be changed but ecu would have to be changed then also for different map for a/f etc. . so will the car end of the ecu plug be the same?? will front drives be different because its an sti - thicker etc from the gearbox? doesnt the sti have a front diff aswell but is the rear diff the same in the wrx as an sti - will there be ratio problems? ha so many questions

tried looking but not finding out much. thanx for reply

yes you will need to change the ecu, it will plug straight in no problems.
The driveshafts are no different as far as i am aware, however, if you put the sti box in, then you will need to put the rear diff in too, they are matched, using an unmatched pair will kill it, quickly.
the plugs at the engine end are the same, they are behind the battery.

hi change all runing gear from sti to new car engine gearbox propshaft and rear diff ecu and all ancileries as the sti is tuned different and all parts off sti are better quolity and a lot lighter if you want and doors and boot bonit are lighter as well if not dameged change as much as you can from sti as you will se a grate differnce in power to waight ratio moor parts changed the better the new car will be wishbone drop links antiroll bars etc change the lot
