Oil/water in the cylinders, surely thats headgasket?

valve/rocker cover gaskets wouldnt cause that IMHO

Sparkystav Oil/water in the cylinders, surely thats headgasket?

Classic signs of it, yes. I was getting water in one cylinder in my little French runabout, and after an AA man and a couple of mechanics told me it was sure to be the HG (which I knew to be a thick steel one with under 5k miles on it!) I discovered it was a cylinder wetliner gone, so there can be other causes, but HG failure is by far the most common.

Who told you it was valve cover gaskets? I'd say further investigation into this is needed though, ideally by someone who knows these engines inside out.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

i got the info from a google search and it sent me to the supra owners club where they say its a common problem and that changing the gaskets cures it 99% of the time but i thought i would put it out there.

its more oil then water but i just thought i could tap into the knowledge that we have here on OJC.

the car runs fine but as you drive away you get a little blue smoke out the back but has no other problems and its only in the rear 3 spark plugs

Well then in that case, it may be correct, as I know nothing of this specific engine, though some on here should, and may well be around to inform you shortly.

Hi mate

common problem is you get oil in the chamber where the coil sits on the spark plug, not in the cylinders

I have done mine but mine is a TT, Never done it on a N/A

All i can say is make sure you buy Genuine Toyota gaskets, Also on the TT's, the bolts that bolt down the cam covers have little plastic washers which in time go hard and brittle which need to be changed, if you dont your wasting your time as they will leak again. When the washers go hard and brittle, the bolts slightly loosen off and the oil starts to leak

Good advice there, lots of Toyotas are like that. You'll probably find they revised the washers/bolts to help prevent them loosening too.

I guess the only major difference on the N/A is going to be HT leads and getting the throttlebody and intake pipe out of the way, as that goes over the top of the cam covers on the 2JZ-GE.

Also don't overtorque the bolts when you do them back up as you'll snap the cam cover.
