Hi folks,

Just thought I would throw my 2pence in about windows7 as i've been testing it since beta. Just installed the final version now which i've got as a RTM and I have to say it's absolutely phenominal, very fast and a lot lot better than Vista.

I've seen a lot of issues with the RTM bluescreening - just waiting for MS to stick the official download up on MSDN / Technet or VL before I stick it on so that I can use a genuine key and see if it's any better Smile

In benchmarks it's actually showing similar performance to Vista in a lot of things and is slower than XP in other things - they've just made it feel snappier so it feels quicker - even though it isn't!

you been looking at different benchmarks to me? from what i've seen the beta out performed xp and vista.
MS aren't going to put up a official download for the RTM afaik, the RTM I have is the same as the final release so it's going to be no different to the one thats released in shops Smile

They release the final builds to MSDN, Volume License and Technet customers today - of which I have access to all three Smile

These were the benchmarks of the RTM code that I was looking at yesterday:

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/software/0,39029...3-7,00.htm

They're only the 32bit benchmarks but I'm just looking forward to getting this installed later, got an old P4 Dell with 768MB I'm gonna give it a go on too, supposedly it runs better than XP on lowspec machines which I'm interested to see Smile

There were a few RTM builds hit the net, 16385 is supposed to be the one, I just always wait to get the ISO from MS themselves as I also get the genuine key so don't have to worry with the activation cracks etc Smile

These things are really gonna fly with the chips with loads of cores down the road - they've done some really good stuff in the W7 / W2008 R2 kernel which may result in a bit more overhead for the two way / four way chips we've got now but when we get to shed loads of cores it will really pull into to the distance then Smile

haha definately Smile overall it's a big improvement over vista to say the least :p and the UAC is a lot better in that you can configure how strict it is.
