Painted brake callipers
Painted brake callipers
I want to paint my brake callipers but im after some advice on two things.
First of all, which colour to go for? I originally was going to go for the standard red but a friend mentioned about doing dark purple which i think would look quite cool. Anyone got any other colours that might work well with the colour of my car?
Second, which paint should I use? There's various kits on eBay but im not sure which one works best or which is best value for money.
Any help or input on this would be much appreciated
If your car is the one in your avatar then I'd say go with red - struggling to visualise the purple but not sure how that would work with the grey.........
Most of us have painted our calipers using Hammerite Smooth and a brush
Hammerite smooth is best and most kits on ebay are just small tubs of that.
I think purple would be something different and would look good give it a go be different.
I've got yellow so why not
Hammerite. I used the spray can, black paint with some white Lexus decals. Give the callipers a really good clean with a wire brush and some sand paper.

That's exactly what I did with the sand paper basically. I could probably have done a better job, but it was my first mod
Was one of my first mods too, i did mine too quickly, got red pain every where looked like id run into a blood bank van!
Need to redo them and take a bit more time and effort this time, may take them off and grind off the casting marks and fit new seals while their off?
Just to help with the colour choices, here's a pic of her looking clean
I think the purple could work really well or it could turn out horrible. I just wanted something different to the usual red.
Just go for the purple... If you don't like it, you can always paint over it. This ain't no one-shot deal here after all...
If you do like it and nobody else does - heh who cares, it's your car
