The wife is looking to get a new car soon as the three door swift just isnt cutting it with a one year old now.

Initially she liked the Nissan Juke but although they look nice there is sweet fa Room inside them!

Ive tried tempting her up to a Nissan Quashqai but they apparently are too big.

The happy medium in terms of exterior size and interior space appears to be a Mokka. Not japanese i know but Happy wife, happy life......

Anyone else got ones and anything to look out for?

After owning a plethora of Japanese cars (Honda Civic, MK1 MR2, MK2 MR2, Sunny ZX, MK3 MR2, MK3 Supra) and working on many others (mostly IS200s and MKIV Supras) I decided it was time to scratch another itch and get something with a German straight 6 as a daily driver. I'm dead set on convertibles now, and it needed to cost £5k or less and be relatively sensible (basically, not an M3). This was in October 2014.

So after a bit of hunting I found this advert:

Quote:2003 (53) BMW 330Ci M SPORT

I only have the one photo saved from the advert but there were loads. It looked in ace condition so I went and test drove it, and paid the cash there and then. SO MANY TOYS! I mean who needs a TV tuner in a car?!

After having it a few days some problems came to light. Some of these were the car being incorrectly advertised (it didn't have Bluetooth and just had the Harmon Kardon trim rather than having the upgraded stereo) but my largest issue was with the roof hydraulics leaking. A big argument ensued between me and the dealer, involving angry phonecalls and letters via recorded delivery. Annoyingly you can't just take a car back and get a refund by UK law, you have to give the supplier the chance to fix the problem first. Eventually he had my car for a few days and the roof was fixed. I'd knocked him down by quite a lot from the initial price so I wasn't really that fussed about the Bluetooth and HK stereo, but I used them as leverage during the process. So by November I had a car that worked well that I quite liked.

After driving it around for a few months I'd got to know the car quite well and was getting to grips with its faults. It drove terribly (mostly due to 4 mismatched budget tyres) and used oil. If you ask most 330 owners they will tell you the engines use oil, and BMW subscribe to the "anything less than 1L every 1000 miles isn't a problem" school of thought, the same as Toyota. However asking a few more people in the know highlighted a couple of things that can cause heavy oil consumption, so I concentrated on the chief one of these, the CCV valve.

The CCV is a clever version of a catch can or PCV system. Breather hoses connect to it and it connects to the intake manifold to pull oil vapour out of the crank case, separate the oil via a vortex system (the bit that fails) and then put the oil back in the sump and the air back into the intake. There's a rubber diaphragm in the valve which after 10+ years has gone brittle and split, and so have all the breather hoses! As it's under the intake manifold and a LOT had to be removed, I gave it to a garage to do along with the oil service to keep the stamps in the book. CCV and associated hoses replaced, oil consumption fixed!

That brings us to March last year - those of you who know me know that I love a road trip round Europe and a mate of mine organised one for his birthday. We checked out France, Luxembourg, Germany, Holland and Belgium over 4 days. I updated the satnav to the latest discs (which also updated the stereo's software/firmware) and customised a few things like the startup logo and speed camera alerts.

New plates required for the trip:

The luggage space isn't bad for a soft top:

Those are decent sized cases under the black plastic panel. The panel can be folded up out of the way to give you full boot space, but then you can't retract the roof. The roof sits in that space when it's down.

I had some interesting company, more Germans!

The SL55 AMG had a smaller supercharger and a remap, left me standing with my puny 240bhp! The 6 series did too, it's a 645 grand tourer, when the guy filled it up it had a range of over 1000 miles yet was still faster than my car...

It looks pretty good rolling, love those rear lights!

Ultimately it looks best with the roof off though (bear optional)

2008 Corvette C6 with the LS3 engine. It hasn't stayed stock for very long either:

- Pioneer head unit with Carplay
- MGW Short shifter
- Mistral black refurbed wheels with Volk blue lug nuts
- OEM black rear spoiler
- blacked out side lights and front fog lights
- Halltech Killer Bee Ram air intake
- OEM splash guards
Next up on the list is some really sticky summer rubber as the current tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar) light up with very little provoking.
Then I need to decide whether I want to strap on a supercharger or run 150 shot of nos. I'm leaning towards nos at the mo as I can program where I want that power to come in, whereas the s/c will give more power across the board and make the car even more tricky to keep straight.

Ok so we just had the Clio serviced by a main dealer. This was done maybe a month a go.

Shortly after the service we noticed a residue on the floor under the car so back it went turns out a gasket had failed due to the service they have replaced and all is fine no more leaks

However
last night the car sounded rough and was struggling to get up to speed. Now the engine on a clip is normally not to noisy. But now is sounds like a diesel

The aa been out and have said there is nothing wrong but I disagree it almost sounds like a misfire but no error codes to back this up

Any ideas other than take it back and tear them a new one

Hi all,

The dark side of the fleet - my Clio Alize. I have it as the daily for resting the GTi, and recently she has been looking a little shabby.

I'm not really attached to this motor but the interior is pristine and if I have a motor outside my house it better be smart.

So here's the list of small faults:

*Fog light surrounds faded
*Bumper Plastics Faded
*Side Strips faded
*Boot Trim faded
*Door Handles faded
*Hub caps scuffed
*Oil Leak
*Dent behind drivers door
*Scuffs on front bumper
*Dent on O/S Rear Arch

It's all cosmetic tweaks bar the random oil leak.. I hate french cars so **** much.

But here is what I've been doing for this week at least:

Well as most of you will know, I purchased a Mercedes E55 AMG a few months ago and have gone a bit quiet since then. Well I'm pleased to say that the modding bug is slowly catching hold again, so I thought it best to start my own project thread.

Here's how she was the day I bought here...

Unfortunately due to transmission issues she had to go back to the dealership for a complete rebuild at a total cost of £2400 (lucky I wasn't paying).

When she came back I treated her to...

- K&N Air Filters
- Complete strip-down clean of intake/manifolds
- Oil and filter change
- Rear diff oil change
- 16 new spark plugs (man that was a tedious job!)
- New supercharger oil
- New valvecover gaskets (one was leaking)
- New supercharger belt and accessory belt

All work was done by me which I'm quite proud of as it's a lot more complex than the 2JZ in my old IS300.

To prevent the intake manifolds from getting gunked up again I fitted two catch cans:

I also acid bathed the intake manifolds - you can see the colour difference between the supercharger in the middle and the two AMG bits at either side.

Then I fitted some AMG pedals...

Got rid of the Mercedes emblem that yoofs like to try and pinch...

And finally fitted a rather nice looking rear spoiler...

I've also fitted a tracker to the car which can cut the fuel pump if I send it a command via text message

Although I'm going a bit slower with the mods to this car, a few of the things on my list to do which seem worthwhile are...

- Meth injection as the car suffers quite badly from heat soak due to the massive engine and supercharger all crammed in the engine bay.

- Some modifications to the air intake system (larger diameter pipes and air scoops behind the front grille)

-Exhaust headers as the OEM ones are really restrictive and going aftermarket can reease 40whp!

- Magnaflow back boxes for more GRRRRRRR

- CarPC install
