Aftermarket Pionner head unit won't turn on - is200
by andymunro, 25-02-2020, 12:57 PM
Evening guys

I've spent all afternoon pulling my dash apart, followed Bandit's great guide how to connect the bypass lead, followed it and got it plugged in.

Have connected it the the back of my head unit (Pioneer AVH-4400BT) connected the antena but no power is going to it, can't turn it on at all.

No fuses are blown, the by pass cable is auto-leads, so really not expecting that to be the problem.

I haven't connected the green hand brake cable anywhere yet though because I've got the relay for the video bypass, but before I do that I want the headunit to turn on in the first place.

Is it because the handbrake cable isn't attached anywhere a reason as to why I won't see the unit turn on?

If so, can someone please tell me exactly where I can attach it to, I mean please make it crystal clear to me because I don't want to splice the wrong wire, I'm no electrician so don't know my way around car wiring.

I've fitted plenty of stereos before, but they are all very simple in comparison to this, never had to do an amp bypass before nor ever had a problem with no power to the unit after plugging everything in.

Any help will be much appreciated! I've just lost hours of my life to this searching forums and not finding a solution I fully understand to have a go at.

I can confirm that you can make the factory bonnet catch work you need to drag forward about 2 inches i used stud and nuts to do this however the bonnet catch is quite a stiff ****** so needs to be braced from below or it wont shut and latch

also factory hinges with r34 tops dont work for the masa bonnet, it sits far to low and has to be spaced (temporarily) 13 x m8 washers per side to even come close plus the actualt hinge is to far over and has also been spaced to even come close to the mounting holes on the bonnet........

I need to find somewhere to get universal rubber seals to run round the engine bay and between the headlight and bumper.

Also have to do a little adaptation to get the High Beam to work on the car as it works a funky way but just involves a relay so not a problem.

1, wash the car the propper way . 2, clay bar the car . 3, use the G220 and ultimate compound . 4, use the G220 and ultimate polish . 5, use ultimate paste wax . all meguiars products used and no dust or residue , use plenty of clean micro cloths , stand back and smile at the shine
