Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205
by Dark Samurai, 17-07-2019, 06:53 PM
Evening guys.
We got bored of the Corolla's power, and on long journeys being a high revving engine means cruising that we were about 4000rpm which made a horrible drone in the cabin and a tiring ride. So we looked about and we found a white Celica GT-Four ST205 in White, so we offered the guy who was selling it a straight swap for the Corolla, he accepted and yesterday we made a 190 mile trip to Stoke-on-Trent to see the Celica and make sure it was boosting properly etc. He liked the Corolla, we liked the Celica, so we traded keys, and took a couple bits out the Corolla, and off we went back home again, and within an hour we already had a couple mods done, these being a new headunit, SMD sidelights, and our flashing brake lights, and dad came round today to drop some bits off and he painted the spoiler riser blocks in Satin Black where it says "GT-Four".
It's not the best example of car, needs a little bit doing, doors need TLC, needs a good polish and clay.
But enough chit chat, here are the pics we took tonight, couple are blurry as no tripod with us Sad

boost bleed
by D.F!ANT, 17-07-2019, 04:15 PM
ok, weird one this?!? as per from me :whistling:

does anyone know of a way of bleeding boost at a set pressure?

the reason for wanting to do this is so that on a turbo application, rather then dumping all boost and then building it up again, it could be maintained at a set level while off the throttle

you would get a bit of chatter yes but you would maintain boost!

the best I can think is to find a vacuum pump and try to retrofit it to deliver vacuum at a certain boost level.

at this level of boost the pump would provide vacuum which would open the blow-off valve, and then shut it when boost drops to the desired level, thus maintaining boost levels!

I realise turbo stall is a problem that would need addressing, but this is a hypothetical question about the bleed type valve and control itself.

has anyone got any better ideas for achieving this task, or even know of a similar system, or a reason why it wouldn't work. I can't work out why people don't do it already!

Cheers peeps!

Bonney's IS200 Sport
by Bonney, 17-07-2019, 03:54 PM
Went and purchased this in March this year as my old Astra wouldn't have made it through its next MOT. (Heres a quick pic of the Astra)

So i went and purchased the Is, Passed it for a week at a dealer on my way home form work and after debating for the full week weather to get it or not, I just went in, Test drove it and knew I had to have it.

Came with 42,000 miles on the clock, Full service history, Full leather and just had a new set of tyres!

Unfortunately after only a week of having the car, Someone accidently reversed into it on a car park Confusedad:

Know its only small, But its one of the things that make me annoyed (I like my cars to be as spotless as possable!)

After having it a month i went to buy a k&n panel filter, But after giving it a good service i seen it already had one fitted!

Only mods have been a full set of mintex pads, Grom audio ipod lead, A VW Polo aeriel mast (Off a 2010 car), a set of roof bars and cycle carriers (That I take off when it isn't used!) and red painted brake calipers!

Things to do are to get the bits on the bodywork sorted (Front bumper, rear bumper and bonnet resprayed) and Refurb the alloys as the previous owner made a mess of them!

Just stuck for ideas on what to do, Trying to keep it as OEM and as subtle as possable!

Black Diamond brake parts - How do you rate them?
by AaronR33, 17-07-2019, 12:05 PM
Im looking at getting a whole new set of discs and pads all round for my type r and i've been looking at some of the Black Diamond parts. For discs and pads all round its going to cost just shy of £390 but seeing as im not too clued up on brake parts/brands I thought i'd better ask you guys before I even think about parting with any cash!

Any suggestions for other good makes would also be appreciated.

Cheers in advance,
Aaron
